In May we celebrate ‘May Day,’ Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Shouvuot and Pentecost! Something for everyone…which prompts identification with an occasion or occasions directly pertaining and relating to our lives. Personally, I have been an ‘International Worker’…working in Canada for ten years qualifies…so I may celebrate May Day. I love Margaritas and Mexican Chips and Dips, I Am a Mother of three and a Grandmama of five. I think deeply of my brother, along with all who have selflessly died while serving in the Armed Forces. And, in my ‘growing up Jewish days in New York City,’ I definitely celebrated Shouvuot – the Jewish festival which celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai. Pentecost speaks to the part of me that joins with the disciples in marking the completion of the Easter season, and the defining moment in which the disciples…’got it’…and became apostles.
And, Pentecost rings out loud and clear to me these days. The realization that in order for those of us on a spiritual path to meaningfully contribute to a ‘world that works for everyone,’ we not only are required to wake up…we are required to grow up and clean up our beclouded states of consciousness…the ‘shadows’ if you will. Additionally, I ponder to what extent I Am attentive to the gifts so freely given to one and all by the One Creative Principle of Life…and, how Am I and to what extent Am I, sharing and revealing these treasures of my Being?
Am I, are you, ready to declare a moratorium on thinking we need to acquire more knowledge in order to feel full, inside? I come bearing good tidings! It’s true…all the wise ones, saints, prophets, gurus and spiritual masters throughout the ages have been telling the Truth! Meister Eckhart said, “Become aware of what is within you.” The Christ said, “The Kingdom of God is within.” Buddhism speaks to this Essence as a sacred nature that is the basis for beings becoming Buddhas. This is the indwelling potential awaiting our conscious recognition. What we do with it becomes the facts of our lives, the texture of our experience and the signal as to what we really believe about ourselves, who we are and what we are capable of.
So, wherever you go today, tomorrow and always, regardless of what the calendar of events indicates, celebrate and affirm this as your true Statement of Being: I Am an individualization of the Buddha, the Christ, Emmanuel, Allah, Brahma, God Itself. I Am here for the purpose of awakening to the magnificence of the Divine nature within me. I consciously call forth the creative aspects of my unlimited potential, declaring that my every answer abides within me; all creativity, love, peace, clarity, spontaneity and joy are mine for the asking and I decide right here and right now that this is the moment I rise and shine in the brilliance, luminosity and uniqueness of that which…God Is…I Am. And, gratefully, this is the way it really is.
